Background: Critical thinking, by expressing the correct principles of reasoning, causes order and clarity of mind and increases the power of criticism. But in addition, it is effective in creating honesty and good relationships and is affected by them. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the relationship between collaborative learning and the promotion of critical thinking based on ethics with regard to the mediating role of mental health in high school students in Babol city. Method: The present study was descriptive-correlational in terms of method. The statistical population consisted of all high school students in Babol city, 1200 people, of whom 291 were selected as samples using cluster random sampling method. A standard questionnaire was used to collect research data. Correlation and structural equation testing were used to examine the hypotheses using SPSS and SMART-PLS software. Results: The results showed that collaborative learning had a significant effect on mental health (r=-0.224) and collaborative learning had a significant effect on promoting critical thinking based on ethics (r=0.268). Also, mental health had a significant effect on promoting critical thinking based on ethics (r=-0.373) and there was a significant relationship between collaborative learning and promoting critical thinking based on ethics with the mediating role of mental health (r=0.116). Conclusion: Promoting student interaction in groups will increase students' critical thinking, increase their self-esteem and responsibility, and will have undeniable results in their health.
