Background: The relationship between ethics and the media and their interaction is one of the central issues that have focused the minds of researchers in the last few decades. The purpose of this research is to investigate the moral role of the media in preventing crime. Method: The current research is practical and was conducted with a qualitative approach (foundation data method). The statistical population of the research includes university experts in the field of media and criminology, 14 of whom were selected as a sample using the purposeful sampling method. The interview tool was semi-structured and the obtained data were analyzed using the triple coding method in the foundational data approach. Results: The results showed that in the open coding stage, 239 concepts were obtained, and in the next step, these concepts were classified into 27 more general categories, and finally, in the last stage, 10 main categories were expressed, and finally, by selective coding and specifying the conditions A causal, central, interventional, contextual and consequences research model was formed. Conclusion: The interaction between ethics and media is also related to the third cycle, "culture". In fact, culture is the platform for the occurrence of all kinds of communication, including the communication of ethics and media. Two frequently combined concepts of "media ethics" and "ethical media" have emerged from attention to the interaction between ethics and media.
