The Relationship between Organizational Commitment and Organizational Citizenship Behavior with the Mediating Role of Professional Ethics

Background: The level of commitment of employees to the organization can be related to the occurrence of various organizational citizenship behaviors. In other words, it can be said that one of the most important and fundamental factors related to the occurrence of organizational citizenship behavior is the level of organizational commitment of employees, which can undoubtedly be said to be related to professional ethics. In this regard, the present research was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior with the mediating role of Ehlak Jarfaei in the social security organization of Tehran province.
Method: The current research method is descriptive-correlation and is considered practical in terms of its purpose. The statistical population of this research includes the employees of the Social Security Organization and according to the available non-probability sampling method, 200 of them were selected as the research sample. The data collection tools in this research included Cadozier's professional ethics questionnaires, Meier and Allen's organizational commitment questionnaires, and Podsakoff et al.'s organizational citizenship behavior questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation method and structural equation model.
Results: There is a positive and significant relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and organizational commitment. There is a positive and meaningful relationship between professional ethics and organizational commitment. And there is a positive and meaningful relationship between professional ethics and organizational citizenship behavior, and the research model has a suitable fit.
Conclusion: Based on the data analysis, the structural equation model of the relationship between organizational commitment and organizational behavior with the mediating role of professional ethics presented in the studied society has a good fit according to the fit indicators. Accordingly, it has the ability to be used in the target society.
