Background: The expansion of artificial intelligence applications in society requires understanding ethical principles to ensure the safe use of this technology. The purpose of the current research is to design and validation of an ethical AI framework in higher education. Method: This applied and mixed research used two approaches: content analysis and descriptive survey. To identify the components of the model, semi-structured interviews were conducted with19 subject matter experts, and the data were analyzed in MAXQDA according to Strauss-Corbin method. Sampling in this section was purposeful, and the validity of the originality of the data was confirmed by6 subject matter experts. In the quantitative section, in order to validate the model,168postgraduate students from the Faculty of Computer Science and technology of Shiraz Universities were selected using a simple random method. The instrument of this section was a questionnaire containing the components identified in the qualitative section(38questions), whose reliability was confirmed with an alpha of (0. 97) The data in this section were validated by CFA. Results: In the qualitative section included8selected codes and17core codes and132open codes. In the quantitative section, the Bartlett test confirmed the adequacy of the sample size and the results of CFA showed that the components of the model have excellent validity(RMSEA=0.043). Conclusion: The findings of the qualitative section of the study, in addition to identifying the components of the ethical application of artificial intelligence in higher education, led to the design of the model. This model will develop the robustness and security of artificial intelligence in education and promote its ethical application, which has high validity from the perspective of subject matter experts.
