Background: By following ethical principles in business, startups can inspire a sense of trust in their beneficiaries, so the present research was designed with the aim of designing an ethical business model in lean startups.
Method: The current research was applied, combined-exploratory. The qualitative part was done based on thematic analysis. The qualitative statistical population included academic experts and industrial experts including managers or supervisors of lean start-ups. 14 people were selected by snowball sampling and subjected to semi-structured interviews. In the quantitative part, the method was descriptive-survey. The statistical population included founders, executive and senior managers, and supervisors of active start-ups with a lean approach, and 152 people were selected as the research sample using the available sampling method. The questionnaire tool was developed by the researcher. Finally, the obtained data were analyzed using SPSS and SmartPLS 3 statistical software.
Results: In the qualitative part, the results indicated the impact of 19 components on ethical business in lean start-ups, which were classified into 6 main groups and a conceptual model was formed by drawing the relationships between them. In the quantitative part, considering the t-statistic values that are greater than 1.96 (at 95% confidence level), all paths between research variables are confirmed and also significant at 95% confidence level.
Conclusion: Paying attention to the principles of business ethics, including accountability, adaptability, sustainability, innovation leadership, honesty, and respect allows the startup to remain a fierce competitor for other competitors by attracting the trust of stakeholders in today's competitive market.
