Explain the Components Related to Marital Instability based on Marital Intimacy and the Quality of Parental Relationships with the Mediating Role of Moral Intelligence

Background: Marriage plays a significant role in the mental and social health of individuals, but the increasing divorce rate indicates the need to examine factors related to marital stability. The present study aimed to explain the components related to marital instability based on marital intimacy and the quality of the parental relationship with the mediating role of moral intelligence.
Method: This research was a descriptive-correlational method based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study included all couples in Tehran, from among its 22 districts, districts 17,18, and 19 were randomly selected in 1404, and 300 people from them were surveyed using cluster random sampling. The research instruments included the Walker and Thompson Intimacy Scale (1983), the Fine et al. Parent-Child Relationship Quality Questionnaire (1985), the Edwards et al. Marital Instability Index (1987), and the Lennick and Keel Moral Intelligence Questionnaire (2005). The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS and Smart Pls software and structural equation modeling.
Results: The. Also, moral intelligence played a significant mediating role in the relationship between marital intimacy, parental relationship quality, and marital instability. The validity and reliability indices of the model were at an acceptable level and the model fit was also confirmed.
Conclusion: The results showed that marital intimacy and the quality of the parental relationship have a direct and significant negative effect on marital instability. results showed that increasing the level of marital intimacy and improving the quality of parental relationship, along with strengthening the moral intelligence of couples, can help reduce marital instability. These findings can be a basis for designing effective preventive and therapeutic interventions in the family
