A Comparative Study between Aspects of Engineering Professional Ethics and Islamic Lifestyle

Background: A considerable part of human activity is devoted to work and profession, and engineering, especially architecture, is essential to the production of living and activities spaces. Wherever, we are in an environment designed by engineers, environmental designers and architects, and what we see and experience is the product and experience of their professional endeavors. These space products are designed to meet the needs of users. Needs that are shaped by the type of life and the level of desire that translate into the term “lifestyle”. Certainly, the term is not only interpretable in the process of producing ethical aspects, but it is itself the basis for behaviors and actions that can underlie ethical evaluation. Thus, the purpose of this article is to explain the professional ethics in architecture with regard to Islamic lifestyle.
Conclusion: The results of this study show that there are significant similarities between the aspects of Islamic lifestyle (moderation, avoidance of extravagance, piety and godliness, thinking, truthfulness and honesty, etc) and engineering ethics (creating welfare, safety and health of the community, independence, legality, discipline, courage, skills, knowledge, etc) are significant similarities between the two domains. In other words, every aspect of the engineering ethics interacts with several aspects of the Islamic lifestyle.
