Construction and Validation of a Professional Ethics Questionnaire for Primary School Principals

Background: School principals have an important role in advancing the educational goals of the country's educational system. The professional ethics of principals and their ethical performance facilitate organizational processes and positive effects on the performance of school human resources. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to construct and validate a professional ethics questionnaire for primary school principals.
Method: The research method in the quantitative part is descriptive-survey and the correlation analysis method is analysis of variance-covariance matrix. The present study population is primary school teachers in Khorasan Razavi province of Mashhad. 300 teachers were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. The research tool was a researcher-made questionnaire of professional ethics of primary school principals. Data were analyzed using heuristic factor analysis and SPSS statistical software.
Results: After factor analysis by principal components analysis and rotation of principal components, 5 components including personality traits, organizational components, socio-cultural dimension, commitment and politico-economic dimension were identified. These 5 main factors explain about 69% of the variance in the professional ethics of primary school principals with 42 items.
Conclusion: As a result of this study, the tool for examining the professional ethics of primary school principals was validated. The presented tool can be used as a measure to examine the professional ethics of school principals and how they work and identify and eliminate their weaknesses. |
