Background: Crime is a phenomenon that has existed and continues to exist in all past and present societies. However, being permanent and general does not mean that crime is the same and uniform among them, but it differs from one society to another, from one region to another, and from time to time. The aim of the present study is to show the role of moral and social security components in the incidence of violent crimes.
Conclusion: The sharply rising trend in violent crime rates on the one hand and the failure of reform and treatment policies on the other hand over the past few decades have led to the basis of reform and treatment measures in dealing with criminals who have violent thoughts and behaviors being severely criticized. The results of the present study showed that moral and social security components play a role in the occurrence of violent crimes. According to research, people with low levels of empathy, shame, and guilt are clearly more likely to commit crimes, which disrupts social security in a wide range. It seems that focusing on rationally confronting violent crimes and trying to prevent their occurrence will have greater benefits in establishing social security and peace, both morally and socially.
