Abstract:   (17 Views)
Background: Prison is an environment that has various mental and physical consequences on the person who commits a crime. Being confined in an environment where progress cannot be achieved in various cultural, social, and economic areas causes the individual's psyche to bear a heavy burden of mental and psychological abuse. But it remains to be seen whether such punishment can be effective in the moral and social reform and education of prisoners. This is the question that the present study was designed to answer.
Conclusion: Losing time and being excluded from life can, to a great extent, reflect a person's remorse and regret for the crime he committed. However, studies show that prison leads to harm such as economic, psychological, social, cultural, etc., and due to the inappropriate approach of the prison and the surrounding society in relation to prisoners, such punishment can lead to less moral reform and education of criminals. Therefore, by using alternative approaches, along with culture building and teaching people how to deal morally with criminals released from prison, it is possible to reduce the harm done to the psychological dimension of the criminal and increase the possibility of moral reform and education of criminals.
