Abstract:   (2164 Views)
Background: One of the most important issues that requires more attention is the role of philosophy in individual and social life. Although sciences such as psychology and sociology propose their theories based on philosophical foundations, the role of philosophy as a field which can be influential in solving humans’ problems is not paid due attention. One of the sciences where philosophy can have practical impact is psychology. This research is aimed at explaining depression disorder based on moral psychology which can be applied in treating depression.
Conclusion: Depression disorder can be explained in moral psychology based on four theories: cognitivism, sensualism, instrumentalism and individualism. Application of these explanations can be effective in treating depression. Out of these four explanations, individualistic explanation is more effective than other explanations, since it has more comprehensive and more powerful anthropological foundations and explains depression through a holistic approach. This is while in other explanations, some aspects of human are neglected adopting a unidimensional approach toward human.
