The Relationship between Cultural Intelligence and Job Performance: the Mediating Role of Ethical Behavior

Background: Nowadays, one of the key factors to communicate with people from different cultures that raise the level of job performance is cultural intelligence which among the ethical treatment can have a significant role, but the researchers have received less attention. Therefore, the aim of present study investigates the mediating role of ethical behavior in the relationship between cultural intelligence and job performance.
Method: This survey is an applied descriptive – correlation research. The population consists of all employees of post offices in Shiraz. 104 persons were selected by stratified sampling and Morgan table as a sample group. Structural equation modeling and software PLS Smart were used for analyzing data.
Results: The findings show that cultural intelligence has a positive, direct and significant effect on job performance and ethical behavior. Therefore, main hypothesis about the mediation role of ethical behavior in the relationship between cultural intelligence and job performance is confirmed.
Conclusion: The results of the present study emphasize on the importance of cultural intelligence and ethical behavior. Cultural intelligence helps employees to have a suitable behavior and show more ethical behaviors and finally show progress in their job performance.
